The International Festival “Organ Summer” is an annual event in
the Evangelic Lutheran Church in Nida since 2002.
The organ of the Evangelic Lutheran Church (former Neringa
History Museum) in Nida was built by Vilnius’ Organ Workshop in
1984. Since then annual summer organ festivals were organized by
Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society in the church. They were
rather popular among the listeners and almost all famous Soviet
organists have given concerts there.
The international festival “Organ Summer” continues the longevous
tradition of Nida’s organ festivals. Its aim is to introduce the
different organ schools and brilliant interpreters of organ music to
plenty of holidaymakers. We offer to our listeners the stylistically
broad repertoire and strive for presenting of great expression
possibilities of this instrument. Currently, “Organ Summer” is the
only one regular event representing the professional organ culture
on the Curonian Spit.
In 2012, concerts of the Festival will be held on June 9 - 30.
Nida’s Evangelic Lutheran Church
This church was built in 1888.
During the Soviet period a
museum of Curonian history and
ethnography was functioning in
the building of Nida’s church. In
1989, the church was returned
back to the local Evangelic
Lutheran community.
